Welcome, and thank you for visiting Empowering Therapy.
My name is Durim Dogani. I am a counsellor and a therapist providing both, short- and long-term counselling and therapy to individuals from my practice in Bromley London, as well as online and on the phone. I work with Companies, Charities, Social Services, Groups, Individuals and Private Healthcare Referrals.
My Journey in Counselling
I started my journey in this field as a support worker in a Pupil Referral Unit in Southeast London supporting some of the most vulnerable 14–16-year-old students who were excluded from mainstream schools. Realising how much I loved the work, I decided to undertake formal training. Currently I run a private practice online and in person, and I also work as a Staff Counsellor for the University of Cambridge.
I also teach CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body) counselling courses for the Counselling & Psychotherapy Training Academy (CPTA) providing students from various career backgrounds with the skills, theory and practice needed to become successful counsellors or just empathic listeners.
I am a fully qualified counsellor, and a Registered Member (MBACP) of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am also in a process of getting accredited with BACP which should be completed in the next month or two.
I offer counselling to clients, in confidential and supportive space. Having completed training with CRUSE and worked with their clients, I offer support with bereavement. I also work with unaccompanied and young asylum seekers (UASC).
I work both short and long term with clients depending on your needs, and I work with a range of issues.

My Therapeutic Approach
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Therapist. My approach allows me to draw from different modalities such as Person Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT. This allows me to tailor therapeutic work around your individual needs. Working safely and ethically is crucial to me. I aim to provide a safe environment for you in our work together.
A counsellor or therapist can have years of experience and training, however, in order for it to work well, a strong and trusted relationship is needed. For this to happen I ensure I work in a confidential, supportive and a non-judgmental way.
As human beings we are very complex creatures, no doubt about that! Sometimes we are stuck! Events of our lives can get in the way. You may be experiencing a challenging stage in life, a conflicted state of mind or a difficulty within yourself, or difficulties with others. When things reach a point where you are unable to deal with it alone, it can help to talk to someone who is independent from every other area of your life. I am able to listen to your thought and feelings and we can explore together. I can help you gain valuable insight into your situation, and help you bring about much-needed change. You don’t have to suffer in silence or do it on your own!
During our first session we will explore what the issues are and things you would like to work on. We will work in a way that best suits you. It may be that you just need a safe and quiet space to unpack and explore feelings that are troubling you. It may be that you want to make a change or challenge your way of thinking to be the best version of yourself. Either way, I offer a secure, non-judgemental and respectful space for us to work together. Over this first session, you will also have a chance to work out if I am the best person to work through things with you.
Please read the Client-Counsellor Agreement before booking a session.
Sessions will be for 50 minutes weekly unless agreed otherwise. I charge £55 per session. Payment can be made by bank transfer for counselling. If paying by bank transfer please ensure payment clears before the session.
If you cancel an agreed counselling session – face-to-face or online – more than 24 hours before the session there will be no charge for the missed session. However, if you cancel your appointment less than 24 hours before the session you will be charged the full session fee.
Your therapy sessions remain confidential between us. I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice. When working with my supervisor I will ensure your identity remains anonymous. The only time I may need to break our confidentiality agreement is if I think you may be in danger of harming yourself or someone else, or if you express an intent to break the law. However, where possible, I would seek to discuss these issues with you first.
I offer concessions for students, trainee counsellors, low income, refugees and the unemployed. Please feel free to contact me for details.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on +44 74710 72972 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
Please sign the Client-Counsellor Agreement prior to our first session.
